Grades 9 to 12
The secondary and higher secondary grades require students to study four core subjects, namely English, Urdu, Pakistan Studies, and Islamic Studies. Developing a well-rounded education requires the study of these subjects. Apart from these core subjects, students are able to choose three electives from a variety of groups.
There are a number of electives available, including Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, General Science, Commerce, and Humanities. Electives allow students to explore their interests and personalize their educational journey to meet their future goals and focus on their interests, strengths and career objectives.

Following the FBISE curriculum, allows a comprehensive and complete education, emphasizing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, which equips students with the required tools to excel in their chosen fields. Additionally, the focus on Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies ensures that students develop a strong moral compass and a clear understanding of their cultural, heritage and religious beliefs.
Geography of Pakistan/ and Pak Culture in lieu of Urdu is offered at SSC and HSSC to the following categories of students (as per FBISE policy):
- Foreign nationals
- Pakistani nationals who live/lived abroad and were not allowed to study Urdu continuously for three years.
- Students whose mothers hold a non-Pakistani passport.
- Students who have NOT visited Pakistan for more than 5 years and have not studied Urdu for 3 consecutive years.
Overall, the FBISE curriculum provides a comprehensive and well-rounded education for students in grades 9 to 12. It offers flexibility to choose additional subjects while still studying the core subjects of Urdu, English, Pakistan Studies, and Islamic Studies.
